Foggy Bottom Cafe
This white linen establishment is a new addition to Upper Irving Restaurant Row. I started with seared scallops and greens followed by mahi mahi in a sumatra buerre blanc. I'm not sure if I neglected to carefully examine the menu, but the treatment to the appetizer and entree was the same -- small, seared, and sumatra oranged. It was okay, but not enough of a variety for me. The Kahlua-spiked cappuccino was delicious. FBC also served amuse bouches, but I think this might be for weekends only. We had a sun-dried tomato tapenade topped blini and homemade chocolate truffles came with the check.
Minuses: Cramped quarters and loud. The price on the weekend rivals places downtown but you don't get the same ambiance or quality of food. I'll give it another try during the weekday where FBC serves a three course menu for $12.95.
